In total, the former Premier League players have claimed fifteen big honors and moved for combined transfer fees of about £123m.

Famous Figures and International Stars

Ireland started playing for the team during pre-season this season through good mate and present team teammate Blake Norton, and the ex- Irish midfielder then invited additional former professionals, who all play in a weekly small-sided match, to participate.

"I warn my defender 'I'm not hanging back' and that I'm just going to continue attacking.

"The movement is what I'm looking for. It's good fun."

Along with the forward's six scores on his first game, Stephen Ireland has netted 8 in three games for the side, while George Boyd hit five on his debut appearance and Lescott, a centre-half by position, scored a triple in one game up front.

Wythenshawe are leading of the Premier Division with three victories from three and a GD of plus nineteen.

Paul Barrow, thirty-eight, who features on the wing for Collegiate OB, faced former Latics full-back Figueroa on the weekend - and had to explain his young son who Heskey was.

Figueroa has appeared at two World Cups for his country, in addition to featuring in over two hundred Premier League matches.

"It was spreading like a rumor they had all these former top-flight stars," said Barrow.

"I felt I was a little awestruck facing Figueroa to be honest.

"Also Emile [Heskey] got on and he's got 60-odd English appearances.

"Our side held our own for a solid 20 minutes but then we had a player dismissed and it was tough.

"Our group really have not ceased talking about it - I was phoning my mum and sibling on the way home.

"The opponents were all really nice, shaking our hands after the match - it was like playing a group of regular guys.

"Now we can't wait for the second fixture."
